An oasis in Berlin
In a cosy studio on the ground floor of an historic brick carriage-house, just far-enough from the chaos of Berlin’s Schlesisches Tor, goldsmith Nathan Thomas is busy at the bench.
Blow-torch in hand and lights dimmed, he focuses a blue flame on a glowing puddle of molten metal. When it’s cooled, this gold will go through the nearby rolling mill unit, he explains, turned by hand again and again until the correct dimensions are reached.
Further down the bench is a neat collection of metal parts already formed. With them, sparkling safely from a clear case, is a lentil-sized diamond the colour of rich champagne.
A nearby logo-embossed ring-box opens - with a snap - to reveal a newly finished commission: ocean-green floating in buttery yellow gold.

20+ years of goldsmithing
Since the year 2000, Nathan has been has been making jewellery & fine objects that inspire a sense of wonder and enjoyment.
In 2004, he graduated from the University of Sydney in Australia, with a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Jewellery and Object Design. He spent the next years working for renown Australian fashion labels and an international jewellery house, while developing his own lines of fine silver and gold jewellery.
His move to Berlin in 2016 signaled a shift in direction, as Nathan moved exclusively into using fine gold and a signature range of precious stones.
Nathan Thomas, the label
The Nathan Thomas brand launches in 2021 from its home in Berlin.
At Nathan Thomas, we are the last of the old-wave, with the best of what’s new. We take traditional goldsmithing methods from centuries past and hand-make contemporary pieces intended to last a lifetime. Unique, one-of-a-kind collection pieces, and bespoke engagement and wedding rings. The finest gold, hand worked from gold-granules, and select, individually-sourced precious stones.
And we do it all with elegance and character. We stand for rebellion and rebel lovers, inclusion and gender neutrality. We’re living the balance - between fine craftsmanship and fashion, jewellery and conceptual object design.
We are very pleased to be launching this new brand in 2021.
